NATICK, MA — May 20, 2025 — The De Luca Foundation, an organization dedicated to serving the biomechanics research community worldwide, is pleased to announce a donation of $500,000 to the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), an organization which promotes the advancement of biomechanics for the benefit of society.
This donation will equip ASB to accelerate investments in summer internships & travel grants to broaden participation in biomechanics. ASB will begin administering De Luca B-SURE Grants and ASB Travel Grants.

This is the largest donation ASB has received in its history and, coming from an institution Professor Carlo De Luca founded, is valuable and rewarding as these initiatives mirror both institutions’ life-long commitment to advancing knowledge of biomechanics.”
Prof. Ajit Chaudhari, President of ASB
The donation allows ASB to:
- Increase funding for De Luca Foundation Biomechanics Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Grants (De Luca B-SURE) which provide opportunities for students from under-resources institutions to grow into the biomechanical leaders of tomorrow.
- Increase participation at ASB annual meetings through need-based travel grants for both U.S. and international attendees.

Channeling De Luca Foundation resources through ASB will fulfill the foundation’s long-term vision of advancing biomechanics. We will commit financial resources & efforts to strengthen the ASB’s causes now and the future."
