On June 30th 2018, Mr. Alessio Puleo presented his work at ISEK 2018 investigating the influence of the inhomogeneous properties of the muscle tissue on the propagation of the electrical signals generated by contracting motor units, i.e. the motor unit action potential shapes.
Mr. Puleo is a graduate student at Biolab in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His graduate work, which is supported in part by the De Luca Foundation, aims at developing a physiological model of motor unit action potentials and of the surface electromyographic (EMG) signal that can be used to investigate healthy and impaired muscle activation.
