On behalf of ISB, we have the great pleasure to announce that the winner of the 2021 Carlo De Luca Emerging Scientist Award sponsored by the De Luca Foundation is Dr. Tom Buurke, KU Leuven, Belgium, for his work titled “Predictive simulations of hemiparetic gait to explore the effects of muscle weakness on walking asymmetry and energetics”.
The award honors excellence in graduate research in the area of motor control and electromyography and is associated with a monetary award of $ US 2,500.
Dr. Buurke presented his work in the award’s session at the 2021 ISB Congress on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
